What's the problem?

When trying to type the word $sqrt$ into WebAssign, it's supposed to replace it with the $\sqrt{x}$ symbol. This does not happen because of the Mathpad. This also does not work for $pi$ either.

should be...

$$pi\rightleftharpoons \pi$$
